Terms of Use
Effective date: 13 June 2026 · Last updated: 13 June 2026 · Governing law: India
By creating an account or using tringMUSIC, you agree to these Terms. tringMUSIC accounts are for parents, guardians, teachers, and school administrators only. Children and young people under 18 do not sign up directly. A parent or guardian creates the account, adds their child as a player profile (name and age), and manages all activity on the child's behalf.
1. About tringMUSIC
tringMUSIC is a piano practice intelligence service. It analyses MIDI recordings of practice sessions, produces graded reports across six performance dimensions, and generates targeted practice drills. It is intended as a practice support tool for piano students, teachers, and music schools.
The service is operated under the trading name tringMUSIC. All queries may be directed to crew@tringmusic.com.
Registered address: 139 F, EA, Metropolitan Co-op Housing Society, Canal South Road, Kolkata 700105, India.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be 18 or older to create a tringMUSIC account. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or older.
- Children and young people under 18 may not create accounts directly. They participate as player profiles managed by a parent or guardian.
- Schools and music studios may create institutional accounts. The individual completing registration warrants that they are 18 or older and have authority to bind the organisation to these Terms.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account, including player profiles you create.
- You must provide accurate information at registration. We may suspend accounts where information is found to be false or misleading.
3. The service and what it is not
tringMUSIC analyses MIDI data to generate practice reports. You understand and accept that:
- Scores and grades produced by tringMUSIC are generated by an algorithm. They are intended as a practice aid, not a formal examination result or professional assessment.
- The scoring engine is calibrated against a reference session and may not reflect every musical style or pedagogical approach. Formula scores are directionally accurate; absolute grade parity with a human teacher's assessment is not guaranteed.
- The drill recommendations are general practice suggestions. They do not replace instruction from a qualified music teacher.
- tringMUSIC analyses MIDI files only. It does not analyse audio recordings, sheet music, or video.
4. Your content
- You retain ownership of the MIDI files you upload and the practice session data they generate.
- By uploading a file, you grant tringMUSIC a limited licence to process it for the purpose of producing your report and storing it as part of your session history.
- We may use aggregated, anonymised session data (never individually identifiable) to improve the accuracy of our scoring engine.
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any file you submit. Do not upload files containing third-party copyrighted recordings; MIDI performance data from your own playing is fine.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the scoring algorithms.
- Upload malicious files or attempt to disrupt the service.
- Share account access with users outside your household or organisation without prior written consent from tringMUSIC.
- Resell or sublicense access to the service.
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent free-tier limits.
6. Subscriptions and payments
- tringMUSIC offers a free tier with limited features. Access to session history, trend reports, and certain exports requires a paid subscription.
- Subscription fees are charged in advance for the billing period selected (monthly or annual).
- Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor. By subscribing, you also agree to their terms.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Refunds are issued at our discretion. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact crew@tringmusic.com within 14 days of the charge.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to registered users.
7. Intellectual property
tringMUSIC, its scoring engine, report formats, brand, and all associated software are the intellectual property of tringMUSIC. Nothing in these Terms grants you any licence to use our brand, software, or proprietary methodology except as necessary to use the service.
8. Privacy and children's data
Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By accepting these Terms you also accept the Privacy Policy.
Player profiles store a name and age only. No photographs are collected. Profile avatars are selected from a fixed set of icons we provide; no user-generated images are uploaded or stored. Player profile data is private, encrypted, and never publicly accessible.
By creating a player profile for a child under 18, you confirm that you are that child's parent or legal guardian, that you have read and accept the Privacy Policy on the child's behalf, and that you consent to the collection and processing of that child's practice data (name, age, session scores) as described therein.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- We make no warranty that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.
- Scores and recommendations are algorithmic outputs. We do not warrant their accuracy or suitability for any particular student or pedagogical goal.
- We are not responsible for any practice decisions made on the basis of tringMUSIC reports.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, tringMUSIC's total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 3 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind.
11. Termination
- You may close your account at any time by contacting crew@tringmusic.com. Your data will be deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach.
- Upon termination, your right to access the service ends immediately. Sections 4, 7, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation by emailing crew@tringmusic.com. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify registered users by email for material changes. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
